Game Development Process

 Hey!, 
Welcome back to my blog again!
Today I will be discussing about my understanding of 'MDA' and game design.

 Here are some of my thoughts after reading the articles and short video:

 'MDA' stands for mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics. The article states that 'MDA' "is a formal approach to understanding games  ñ one which attempts to bridge the gap between game design and development, game criticism, and technical game research". This is a process stage that a game designer has to go through in order to understand games. This is a process that they would have to go through in order to bridge the gap between game design and development. 
         The first stage to this particular process is iterative development. This a process that is similar to brainstorming your ideas for games and prototype testing where you test out your ideas further. The article mentions that you need to understand the algorithms of the game first before implementing any elements. This is done because you have to understand how it works mechanically before you move onto anything else. 
           In the second article it discusses that you must understand the dynamics of the game in terms of the user experience and functionality as well as the loading time of the game itself. It states that you will need to understand and research your game and how it works and performs and if your pleasing your target audience for the game. 'MDA' is about trying to create the best 'well-rounded game' and using all of the items mentioned above to create the best possible outcome for the game developer. The article suggests that in order to produce a successful game that you will need to carry out many tests and have solid information on your game and your target audience in order for your game to be effective and successful.

Introduction Post: The best class that I took last semester was 'Design Process & Practice'. I really enjoyed this module last semester because I found it to be very interesting and creative. Final Game Design Document

I have completed my final GDD (Game Design Document). My previous GDD didn't have enough detailed information in it where I would be able to hand it over to games developer and programmer. It would have not been enough information for my game to be produced and made the way that I wanted. Therefore I updated my DunDoc . Game Vision Statement

Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be discussing my chosen game genre and what the game-play of my game will be like. The genre that I chosen for my game is a children's interactive educational story based game. The style of the game will be simplistic yet, cute meaning that I will have 'cute' looking characters in my game to appeal to children. The game will be colourful and 'animated' looking meaning, it won't have a realistic style to it. I believe choosing this type of style will appeal to my target audience for my game. My game will be story-based which means that the player will choose from a list of choices in response to for example; a question or a route that they may take.                There will be many interesting tasks and choices that the player must make in order to not bore the player resulting in the player quitting the game before completing it.
