WHY REJECTION HURTS SO MUCH AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? This article by 'Guy Winch',   a licensed psychologist, author and keynote speaker is positively informative and searingly honest. As a practicing psychologist, he offers insights and solutions to the age-old dilemma of the self-destructive nature of our reactions to the problem of rejection. You can see his TED Talk, "Why We All Need to Practice Emotional First Aid," here, and has been viewed more than five million times. He also writes the popular Squeaky Wheel blog for PsychologyToday.com. Accepting that rejection is a normal part of life and that it enables you to learn from your mistakes.                                                                     Source Link We all suffer different forms of rejection in our life, whether it is being fired from our job, being dumped by our partner or ignored by people we thought were friends. The feelings we feel as result of this rejection can cause intense

Game Brainstorm

A puzzle game which is what one of my ideas is. Source Link I will be discussing my four game ideas that I would like to create. 1). Puzzle Game: The first game idea is a puzzle based game that is quick, simple and addictive. Something that is similar to 'Tetris'. My idea is based on a mosaic tile game, where the player has to swipe the correct tiles in the correct order to complete a graphic. I was inspired by the cheap puzzles that you would get in Christmas crackers! With every level the player gets more tiles to ensemble and your put against the clock. A humorous graphic may appear when the player has completed the puzzle to add a funny element to the game. This style of game is quite addictive with players. As the levels become more difficult the game becomes increasingly more tricky to master. The game first starts off with 2-D tiles on the easier levels that you just have to swipe it around. Then you move onto more difficult 3-D tiles that you can flip arou

Unity Tutorial 01

Image
After watching both tutorials of  'Unity3D', I am looking forward to making and designing a game for this module. I am excited to see whether I really enjoy making a game or not. My first impressions are that it looks to be quite complicated to use but it also looks very interesting too. I hope that I will be able to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing game that I adore and one that others will enjoy too. Once I had downloaded 'Unity3D' engine, I launched it and I began to start to follow along with the tutorials.             I learned that at the bottom of the screen we have a project window where we will store all of the assets. An asset is defined as something that we can bring into the game such as a game object, a texture and a script. Most of the time because Unity is a visual engine we can drag and drop things into the game. I also learned how to make a terrain which is like a large white sheet which, is meant to be amazing because you can  use this

Game Design Overview

Image
Game Design Overview: Why is there a lack of creativity in game design? Why do so many games seem to be clones of each other? There is a paucity of original ideas. Games like "Sim City", "Tetris" and even "Doom" are engaging but also unique in the games industry. Gaming design technology has never been better but creativity is stagnant. There are perhaps different reasons to explain this lack of creativity.  Sim City~ An original game concept                                Source Link                                      A games designer needs ideas and great programming skills to produce good games but they also require funding.  Publishers are traditionally conservative, preferring to fund clones of existing games. Shooter games like; 'Halo 3', 'Overwatch', Battlefield 1' and 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered' are typical of the type of game most likely to be developed these days. This is understandable as pr

Time Strategies

Image
Time Management Strategies: I found that it was never very useful for me personally to have a scheduled timetable of when I was going to study or do certain assignments or tasks. I could just never stick to them for multiple reasons. I found it much easier to have a checklist of what I needed to complete and by when I needed to complete it. I managed my time by doing different assignments or tasks from different modules on the same day. So I would say I need to complete the lab for web design by today and that will take me roughly two hours to finish and submit and then once that finished I would go onto what was due first and what would take up most of my time to finish and break it up into sections so i'm not tiring myself out trying to get it done all in one day. I would always try to not leave anything to the last minute to complete because the quality of the task would go way down and it would stress me out doing that. As Matt Mayberry from entrepreneur.com says: A quo

Technology Tools Post

Image
Technology Tools: I am quite familiar with some of the technology tools. I already know about blogging and the bookmarks bar. I didn't know that you could make a folder in the bookmarks bar browser. I was unaware that you could use a bookmarking tool like, 'Diigo' . I have used the Pinterest app for many different modules before from last year and I find it amazing to use if your looking for inspiration. It's for having a handy resource available of everything that you pinned too. I have used free and basic image editors before and I find them very helpful when I need to use a certain image but the size of the image is wrong. I would re-size the image without altering the quality of the image in the image editor program. I have never made my own graphics using a program like, canvas before. I have heard of these type of programs that you can use to create your own graphics but I have never used them. 'Padlt' and 'Unity3D' I have never used or heard

Assignments Post

Image
First Impressions: I'm really intrigued by our group project phase 1 module assignment. It's a group project with four people. We choose our own groups. We base who we choose for our groups on our interest, skill set and ideas. I found this very interesting to do because we had to research and create a concept board expressing our individual ideas for the project and what we could bring to the assignment. This was a fun task to do because I enjoyed making a concept for my 'visually creativity' module last year. I'm excited by the visual design fundamentals assignment too because its what interests me personally. This module includes what I find interesting to achieve the most. This is very different to other what I have done in other classes because I have never done any type of tasks that are similar to this in my other modules as of yet. It's kind of similar to other tasks that I had to do in my other modules because I had to research topics and discuss a
