Learning Challenge Time: Review your schedule

Image
Source Link My approach to time management for this class is okay but it could be a lot better. I need to start getting up earlier and plan on doing more work in the morning time when I don't have lectures or labs. Some days I'm not into two in the day and most of the time I have done nothing at all. I usually do all my work for college after I'm done for the day which is normally after three or four. This is not including lab time work of course. I feel that I need to review my schedule for this module because I simply cannot get what I want done by when I want it done. I'm never usually late for an assignment because I don't eave it to the last minute but I'm still not doing well when it comes to managing my time for this module. My problem is that I don't take into account how long something will realistically take me to do. If i'm struggling with something it will always take me a while to get it done properly.                  ...

Growth Mindset Challenge: Explore the Random Growth Mindset Cats

Image
Source Link I chose this particular image because it's completely true. In order to learn and grow as a student you must make mistakes so you know whats wrong and how you can get it right. Making a mistake allows you to learn more effectively as a student. The image states, "Mistakes provide the next lesson", which is accurate because once you make a mistake you can move knowing that you will probably never make that particular mistake again. If you get something right on the first try, your not really learning nearly as much if it took you a few attempts to achieve your desired goal because your not getting constructive feedback which will enable you to do better in the future. Source Link I chose this image because it demonstrates an accurate representation on how I can sometimes feel about receiving feedback. Often I am not looking forward to getting feedback because I'm worried that it might be only negative feedback. What you have to remember is tha...

Tech Task: New blog look

Image
Just to let you guys know I have changed the appearance of my blog. It was using a basic orange color schemed blog template before but, now I have updated it to a more modern, attractive look. I have also changed the fonts too. They now appear more stylistic than before which, I feel looks much better.            I changed my profile picture too. Before I had no image whatsoever and now I have a brand new image of my dog. For the new theme I chose one which features nature, as I love nature and plants. There is a  muted orange background in contrast to the dark green heading background. I feel that it looks much more up to date and it features my personal aesthetic. Please let me know what you think of the new look by commenting down below! Thanks. Source Link Who Likes the new look?

WHY REJECTION HURTS SO MUCH AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? This article by 'Guy Winch',   a licensed psychologist, author and keynote speaker is positively informative and searingly honest. As a practicing psychologist, he offers insights and solutions to the age-old dilemma of the self-destructive nature of our reactions to the problem of rejection. You can see his TED Talk, "Why We All Need to Practice Emotional First Aid," here, and has been viewed more than five million times. He also writes the popular Squeaky Wheel blog for PsychologyToday.com. Accepting that rejection is a normal part of life and that it enables you to learn from your mistakes.                                                                     Source Link We all suffer different forms of rejection in our life, whether...

Game Brainstorm

Image
A puzzle game which is what one of my ideas is. Source Link I will be discussing my four game ideas that I would like to create. 1). Puzzle Game: The first game idea is a puzzle based game that is quick, simple and addictive. Something that is similar to 'Tetris'. My idea is based on a mosaic tile game, where the player has to swipe the correct tiles in the correct order to complete a graphic. I was inspired by the cheap puzzles that you would get in Christmas crackers! With every level the player gets more tiles to ensemble and your put against the clock. A humorous graphic may appear when the player has completed the puzzle to add a funny element to the game. This style of game is quite addictive with players. As the levels become more difficult the game becomes increasingly more tricky to master. The game first starts off with 2-D tiles on the easier levels that you just have to swipe it around. Then you move onto more difficult 3-D tiles that y...

Unity Tutorial 01

Image
After watching both tutorials of  'Unity3D', I am looking forward to making and designing a game for this module. I am excited to see whether I really enjoy making a game or not. My first impressions are that it looks to be quite complicated to use but it also looks very interesting too. I hope that I will be able to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing game that I adore and one that others will enjoy too. Once I had downloaded 'Unity3D' engine, I launched it and I began to start to follow along with the tutorials.             I learned that at the bottom of the screen we have a project window where we will store all of the assets. An asset is defined as something that we can bring into the game such as a game object, a texture and a script. Most of the time because Unity is a visual engine we can drag and drop things into the game. I also learned how to make a terrain which is like a large white sheet which, ...

Game Design Overview

Game Design Overview: Why is there a lack of creativity in game design? Why do so many games seem to be clones of each other? There is a paucity of original ideas. Games like "Sim City", "Tetris" and even "Doom" are engaging but also unique in the games industry. Gaming design technology has never been better but creativity is stagnant. There are perhaps different reasons to explain this lack of creativity.  Sim City~ An original game concept                                Source Link                                      A games designer needs ideas and great programming skills to produce good games but they also require funding.  Publishers are traditionally conservative, preferring to fund clones of existing games. Shooter games like; 'Halo 3', 'Overwatch', Battlefield 1' and 'Call of Duty: M...
