Game Brainstorm

A puzzle game which is what one of my ideas is.

I will be discussing my four game ideas that I would like to create.

1). Puzzle Game: The first game idea is a puzzle based game that is quick, simple and addictive. Something that is similar to 'Tetris'. My idea is based on a mosaic tile game, where the player has to swipe the correct tiles in the correct order to complete a graphic. I was inspired by the cheap puzzles that you would get in Christmas crackers! With every level the player gets more tiles to ensemble and your put against the clock. A humorous graphic may appear when the player has completed the puzzle to add a funny element to the game. This style of game is quite addictive with players. As the levels become more difficult the game becomes increasingly more tricky to master. The game first starts off with 2-D tiles on the easier levels that you just have to swipe it around. Then you move onto more difficult 3-D tiles that you can flip around, they are more like cubes at this stage. This will be done with a time constraint too. It's similar to a memory type of game. I would like to learn how this type of game would be achieved and designed. My interest in this type of games comes from playing these types of app games on my phone.

2). Treasure Hunt Game: This is a game where you will race against the clock and try to find hidden objects that are hidden in different locations. You will be given a checklist of all of items, including images of every item that you must find. I would like to have this treasure hunt done in different themed areas that aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Every location will have a theme and the objects that you need to find will also suit the themed location. Once you have found all the objects within the time limit, you will get an achievement for the level and move onto more tricky levels as you go on. The player will be given clues but, the clues on harder levels may be misleading. This encourages the players to play fairly. If the player fails a level a number of times they will have run out of chances and the faith of the world will blow up if they lose. I would like to learn how to design such a game in 'Unity3-D' using all these features. My interest in this type of game comes from playing 'hidden object pc games', when I was younger and I always enjoyed playing them and exploring different genres of locations that they used for example; fantasy, nature etc.

3). Children's Simulation  Game: This game will be a simulated styled game for children from 4-8 years old. They will have different backgrounds, scenes and they will create their own stories. They will be given a series of choices that they will make so that they decide how their story will play out for them. They can choose between two or more characters as their main character and there may be multiple characters that they will interact with. At this point they will choose what dialogue they will say by choosing one of the options. There will be many different story themes to choose from too. The idea of this game is that you choose your own outcome based on the decisions that you made. My interest with this type of game lies with the game that I loved playing which is 'The Sims'. Although these game ideas are completely different they are both simulated type games. I would be interested to know how I would go about making this type game and how I would make it interesting enough for the player. There would be audio and music within the game and a save option to save your progress and a playback button option as well.

4). Multi-Player Obstacle Course Game: This game will be a multi-player obstacle course based game where, players can compete against each other in different courses and levels that will be set out for them. There will be a timer to record how long it took the player to finish a particular level and that resulted time that the player got will go onto the best time ranking chart. This will show what other players have achieved when playing this game. There will be a ranking system between players and a leader board showcasing who is first and last based on their timing score. There may also be a leader board purely based on skill and ability too. There will be many different levels and of course each level will become harder as you go through them. The player will be a set character from level 1 and if they achieve the highest score on a tricky level they will also be rewarded with a unique character that they can now play with. Every player which reaches this will get a random character reward which will lead to payers trying to collect the ones that appeal the most to them. My interest for this type of game is when I used to play these games on a website called 'Addicting games', from a while ago. I would be interested to hear how I would even begin to create a game like this and what steps I would need to take first to start-up.
